How long does it take to get your first $1K MRR?

Updated · First published · By Coffounder

It can take days, or it can take years. We watched 35 founders cross $1K MRR on X. Counted from the first number they posted, half got there in under 153 days. The fastest took 2 days, the slowest 1696 days.

Their own words show the same spread: one launch takes off in a week, another needs two years of small steps. Read them below, each with a link to the post.

MRR means monthly recurring revenue: the money that comes in every month from people who pay every month. $1K a month is the first big goal for most founders, because it shows that strangers will pay.

Days is the time between their first posted number and the first one at $1K or more. Growth is the change between those two numbers.

Is $1K MRR a lot?

It is not enough to live on in most places, but it is a real start. 76% of the founders on our list are past it. See how much indie hackers make for the full spread, or who makes $10K MRR for the next step.

Can you trust these numbers?

We can't see anyone's bank account. A post on X is a claim, so we show it as one: every number links to the post it came from, with the date. Our filter drops posts that sell a course, posts about somebody else's app, and goals that were not reached yet. Read how we check.

If a number looks too good, open the post and read the replies. People on X are quick to ask for proof.
