HOW WE CHECK
How we check the numbers.
Every number here comes from a post on X. This is how we pick the posts, and what we can and cannot check.
- 514
- posts we keep
- 248
- founders
- 33
- spotters left out
We read posts on X
Every hour we look for new posts on X about MRR, launches and first customers. We read X through a service called Desearch. Most of our searches skip posts with fewer than 10 likes.
A computer reads each post
A language model, a kind of AI that reads text, looks at each new post. It answers one question: is this a founder telling their own result, or is somebody selling something? We only keep the first kind. Courses, ebooks, templates and “DM me” posts stay out.
Old numbers must be in their own words
We also look back at older posts from each founder, to draw their MRR line. A past number counts only when the founder's own sentence says they reached it, like “My app just crossed $1,700 MRR”. A goal, a guess, a question or a number about somebody else does not count.
Spotters are left out
Some accounts mostly post other people's app revenue, like “this app makes $50K a month”. We call them spotters. Those numbers are not theirs, so we leave these accounts out of the feed, the tracker and the totals. Right now we leave out 33 accounts like this.
Every number links to its post
Next to every number there is a link to the original post on X. Read it, and judge it for yourself.
How we count
- MRR is money that comes in every month. If a founder shares ARR, the money for a whole year, we divide it by 12.
- If a founder posts two numbers on the same day, we keep the higher one.
- Growth is the change from the first number we have from a founder to their newest one.
- Totals add up each founder's own newest number. We never guess a number.
- Sectors, like AI or marketing, come from the words in a founder's bio, links and posts.
See it for yourself
Open the founder tracker to see every founder and their MRR line, or read the feed for the newest posts. Every row has its link to X.
